Four-spotted Owlfly - Ululodes quadripunctatus -  Guess Road at Lowell, Durham County, North Carolina, USA June 12, 2004
Shows excised hindwings, characteristic of male. Male also (apparently) does not have strong dark wingspots. Note, too, what appears to be a tuft of hair (scent scales, as in some butterflies?) projecting on the dorsal side of the abdomen. I do not see this in females.
