Cortodera falsa

Cortodera falsa
Wintercreek Trail, below Chantry Flat, San Gabriel Mountains, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 10, 2010
On head of Gilia capitata.
Superficially resembles Asclera excavata and Eumecomera obscura.

It took me a while,
but going through my files I discovered a remark by Ian Swift, also a photo of a specimen from San Antonio Falls area, San Gabriel Mountains.
Not an Oedemerid after all, but Cortodera falsa.

no idea... resemblance-wise, Rhinoplatia look similar...
...although the head is probably too short
must see plain dorsal

Thanks, Vassili -
I already rejected Rhinoplatia, i.e. pronotum too short, elytra different. I'll just have to get lucky and find this again, take a specimen.
