Is it a stinging kind

no it won't sting
it appears to be Lasiocampoidea, but i have to dig a little farther, but i suspect it to be one of the lappet moths..i dont suppose you'ed try rearing him on out..did you find him on a tree or the ground?

They are everywhere......tree
They are everywhere......trees ,ground, house......everywhere.

i dont suppose you would consider
putting a couple into a container and rearing them out? just a plastic lidded box would be fine of the ones who are traveling? the travelers are probably done feeding..
