Ant - Camponotus microps

Ant - Camponotus microps
Near Rocksprings, Edwards County, Texas, USA
April 19, 2012
Found this single ant roaming near the entrance of a small cave on the side of a hill south east of Rocksprings, Texas. He was about 1/3 of an inch in length. I noticed him because he was fairly large by ant standards. It was taken about 2am. Location Mapped on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/centavo/7093099263/in/photostream)

A species described in 2006 by the late Roy R. Snelling, recognizable among its close relatives such as C. festinatus & C. fragilisby the relatively long, suberect pubescence on the scapes, visible at full size in this nice image.
