Red-marked Pachodynerus - Pachodynerus erynnis
Small wood lot 1/4 mile ENE of ferry landing on the NE side of Galveston Island, Galveston County, Texas, USA
April 15, 2012
Size: ~ 3/4 - 1 in. long
This was small relative to paper wasps I commonly see. It was as long as my middle finger is wide at most. Another size reference is the saltcedar (Tamarix sp.) flowers it was using in this photo.
