Zopheridae ? - Alaus lusciosus

Zopheridae ? - Alaus lusciosus
Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
April 20, 2012
Size: 4 cm (body)
Similar to Cast Iron Beetle, but with fake eye markings.

Moved
Moved from Texas Click Beetle.

Moved from ID Request.

Alaus lusciosus looks correct
although I prefer to see microsculpture of pronotum and base of elytra--sometimes difficult to separate from A. oculatus where their ranges overlap in Texas.
