Syrphidae
Appears to be a fly in the Family Syrphidae

With the ID of Syrphidae (Syrphid Flies) to go on, I found an image under Genus Sphaerophoria that looks very close to the one I photographed here. I'm moving mine to the Guide page for Sphaerophoria

 
I'm not sure that's right
Yours is the only one with blue on the thorax. I know I've seen yours somewhere, but am not sure where. Hope to get back to you on this. (I think we share the same ID problem.)
