large gray spider - Dolomedes albineus

large gray spider - Dolomedes albineus
Hollywood, Charleston County, South Carolina, USA
April 24, 2012
Size: about 2" toe to toe
Found her in our canoe which had been sitting next to a boggy pond. I was thinking maybe Dolomedes tenebrosus, but the markings on the head look different from other pics I see.

Yes, nice ones.
Moved from ID Request. I agree with Jeff.

Appreciation
Thank you both for your help with ID'ing my find. I also appreciate your compliments on my pics. I work very hard at getting shots that will make identification easier and more certain. It is also very rewarding knowing that I might on occasion be contributing photos that are useful and well representitive of a particular species. Otherwise I would feel a wee little bit guilty sending in so many requests ;o).

Yes I feel the same
Sometimes it's hard to balance everything like the lighting available, the angles needed, etc. and still create visually pleasing photos in the end. We certainly appreciate the people who are educating themselves as they go. I think we also want to say that completely aside from what we need for IDing it, these shots are just cool... and well done.

Nice
images.
Compare to Dolomedes albineus.
