I was walking in from work and this little butterfly lit upon me, presumably for salt? My two younger boys and I spent much time with this butterfly before it decided to fly away.

Hackberry -- the only other Emperor in your area would be the Tawny, which lacks forewing eyespots and has two solid bars in the lower front part of the forewing, rather than one solid and one broken on this guy.
