Explanation of Names

Specific epithet flavistrigella is Latin meaning "yellow streaked." (1)

Numbers

There are more than 35 species of Ypsolopha in America north of Mexico. (2)

Size

Wingspan 22-24 mm. (Busck)

Identification

Original description is online as Cerostoma flavistrigella in print references.

Range

Alberta to Texas and west to California.

Type locality: USA: California, Coso Valley.

Adults records are mostly from April to October.

Food

Larval host is willow, Salix L. (Ives & Wong 1988)
