What is this? Centipede?

Is this harmful? I'm in Austin, TX and found this in my kitchen today.

And, one more pic.

Photobucket

It was at least 1.5 inches long.

What is it?

The best way to receive an id
The best way to receive an identification for an image is to upload it to ID Request (just go to ID Request and click add image, fill in whatever info you might know), but I digress. This appears to be the larva of some sort of beetle (I'd guess Carabidae but beetles aren't my specialty). It's perfectly harmless and most likely found its way into your home by accident. Welcome to BugGuide.

What is this... thanks!
Thanks! I did that, so we'll see what people say it is! I appreciate the response.

Now that you've posted to ID Request..
...please delete this unnecessary forum thread (click on edit and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the "delete" button). You're the only one who can do it.

Thanks--and welcome to BugGuide!
