Afraid I know nothing about moths and only got a crappy image to boot, but a cool pattern so I thought it worth a shot.

looks like a light form Toothed Somberwing (Euclidia cuspidea) - 8731

Never would have found it on my own. Wouldn't Eclidia ardita be more likely in the Bay Area?
