Nematocampa - Nematocampa resistaria

Nematocampa - Nematocampa resistaria
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
April 13, 2012
Size: ~20 mm span
Light attracted. Judging from the images submitted from Florida by Machele White and, especially, by Ilona L. with verdict from Bob Patterson concerning the latter, I assume that my moth is 7009 Nematocampa limbata and not a "bleached" 2010 Nematocampa resistaria. I would appreciate confirmation.

Nematocampa resistaria - Hodges #7010
Moved from ID Request.

Nematocampa resistaria and N. baggettaria are the southeastern species. N. baggettaria is the smallest and the outer margins of the wings are rounded. There are differences in the hind tibial spurs of the males also. Your moth has the more angular outer wing margins of Nematocampa resistaria.
Thanks

name changed
I had to check this out after seeing your comment. The following statement is on the Info tab regarding the name change. Apparently the name N. limbata is no longer in use.

Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
"Nematocampa limbata (formerly lumped with this Eurasian species)
Ferguson (1993) revised the NA species of Nematocampa and was the author who revised the status of the species commonly called N. limbata to N. resistaria."

Thank you for your prompt comment. "Dimorphism" is the key, I suppose. No wonder I became confused looking at the images that passed for being resistaria. I'm looking forward to a final verdict. Is Hodges #2009 for the Eurasian species?
