Size

Wingspan 10-12 mm.

Identification

Clemens (1860) original description as Chrysocorys erythriella is available online in the print references.
The group is noted for the stout spines on the hindlegs.

Range

Eastern United States and Canada.
Older published records south to at least North Carolina.
Heppner (2003) did not list the species for Florida. (2)

Season

Adults are most common from April to September.

Food

Larval host is Rhus sp. (sumac).
