April 28, 2012
Size: maybe 3/4"
After evening of blacklighting, showed up next morning. Too bad he's not in better shape. I believe this is the Brown Scoopwing Calledapteryx dryopterata, as opposed to the Gray Scoopwing. Whadya think?

Moved from ID Request.

I think
I've never seen this one before. Can't help think it looks like a really fat plume. Wish I could help you ...

It does!
and the new Peterson Guide (p.178-9)says these are uncommon. Since I first posted this here, BAMONA confirmed the ID ( http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/706513 ), so I think I'll move it to #7653 if that's O.K.

Go 4 it
Glad to see U taking the initiative
