Haplusia rubra
Robin, this is Haplusia rubra (Felt)(Cecidomyiidae). I identified Haplusia funebris Plakidas in 2007 with a key to the north american species. And I also have H. rubra in my collection. Reared them from larvae living under decaying bark. Adults are large 5-7 mm, have black and white banded legs, and pale white body color.
