When I was in grade school
[centuries ago], I lived along South Boulder Creek, and there lots of Viceroys - used the Willows as host plants. Occasionally there were Weidemeyer's Admirals, but I think this is a Viceroy caterpillar. The creek is very very very different from back in the 60's now, but the willows and Viceroys I think are still there.

Oh! Thank you. Followed your
Oh! Thank you. Followed your lead - might be the caterpillar of a western white admiral. Feeding on a willow-type shrub, which is very abundant along sections of this creek.
