How big was this egg?
I'm thinking it's from a saturniid, or possibily a sphingid.

 
just measured it...
It is ~ 1.5mm wide x nearly 2mm long.

 
It reminds me most of a Citheronia egg...
but a bit too small. Could be from one of the smaller royal moths. Here's an example of a Citheronia egg that hatched:

In any case, yours is the egg of a fairly large moth, and since it's a good illustration of what a parasitized egg looks like, I think it belongs in the Trichogrammatidae section along with the wasps.
