Hemiptera, white hopper - Cyarda melichari

Hemiptera, white hopper - Cyarda melichari
Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, USA
May 5, 2012
Size: approx 6-7mm
This one did not have the habit of trying to stay on the opposite side of the stem as many hoppers do. He stayed perfectly still. The second picture is a group of them together.

Moved

Cyarda melichari
the only species of this genus north of FL

Moved for expert attention

pls correct location per instructions:
only Valdosta belongs in the 'City' field, not "Valdosta, GA, USA"
not a treehopper, btw --diff. superfamily
see Cyarda(1)

Thanks.
I guess my Firefox is filling in the blank with the full Valdosta, GA, thing. I thought that was the site doing so. I will rectify that. I posted these pics, then realized they were not in the "Needs ID" forum. Is there a way to move them over? Or should I just delete and re-post?

thanks for correcting this
yes, you can move your pix (consult the Help section to learn how), but pls let them sit where i moved them for the time being, pending Dr Hamilton's review (he is our hopper czar) --then we'll move them to the appropriate guide page.
keep your nice bugs coming!

ok
OK, I was not sure about how this worked ... now I know. I don't think I even realized you had moved them from where I posted.

the image management BG process is sometimes complicated and may involve a lot of considerations and decisions by many people who often have different ideas about BG's priorities and goals.
to learn more, if you are interested, pls refer to this forum thread that may make some things clearer to you but might as well do the exact opposite; i don't want to confuse and burden you unnecessarily, but there have been loads of long and sometimes bitter discussions of what this site should be and how to make it work
