Pieris, not Pontia
In your area, I think Pieris marginalis is most likely. Females can be dark like this occasionally.

Yeah, you're right Paul. It definitely looks to be a P. marginalis. Thanks for the correction. Darn western butterflies. ;)

Pontia
Looks to be a Spring White, Pontia sisymbrii sisymbrii. Another opinion would valuable though.
