Flower Longhorn - Strangalia famelica

Flower Longhorn - Strangalia famelica
Harms Woods Forest Preserves, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA
July 13, 2006
Size: ~10mm
We went to Harms yesterday to see if Cicuta was blooming. It was and there was a wild array of pollinators and nectaring species -- flies, wasps, bees, beetles.... We photographed what we think might be six different species of Cerambycids. Is it possible that we might see three different species of Strangalia in the same place at the same time? Or are the Strangalia species quite variable in color pattern? We're thinking this is Strangalia solitaria, Yanega fig 58.

It's possible...
...to see multiple species of Strangalia in your area, but the two pictures are both S. famelica solitaria. Nominotypical famelica occurs east of the Appalachians.

So solitaria is the subspecies name
!

Strangalia solitaria
looks good to me.
