soft tick recovered from the burrow of the gopher tortoise, Gopherus polyphemus. I don't have keys to the soft ticks (except for the veterinary species).

O. turicata americanus
Moved tentatively, per William Nicholson here at the CDC.

This subspecies is known from FL and has been associated with gopher tortoises.

Moved from Soft Ticks.
