This is a tineid; the only thing that I can reconcile it with is Jim Vargo's photo of
Dyotopasta yumaella
here
. A close look reveals that the markings are all in the same places. Your moth appears to have the black markings more extensive, but that could reflect either condition or intraspecific variation (from the MPG photos, this appears to be a rather variable species).

I agree with you, now that I look at it in that light. It had been my first thought, as there are many D. yumaella here, but I was thrown off by the different intensity of the markings. I appreciate your time and help.
