Black Beetle - Dactylosternum

Black Beetle - Dactylosternum
San Pedro River Valley, SE of San Manuel, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
May 7, 2012
Found in the truck of a "leaking" Saguaro Cactus, with nearby Longhorn Cactus Fly (Odontoloxozus longicornis); at first it looked like a Clown Beetle to me, but the elytra are completely different. Sorry about the poor quality photos, expect to Frass afterwards.

Thank you
Thanks for your help. I'm totally surprised - I wasn't expecting Water Scavenger Beetles in the middle of the desert, but it seems to fit well. Thanks again.

you're most welcome
Sphaeridiinae, a large part of this family, are entirely terrestrial; wait for more input on this one from others, but also keep an eye out and try to get sharper pics of it --the ones here could be indeed inadequate
also, take a look at Dactylosternum --seems to be the most likely candidate
