There were several of these very small flies caught in a spider's web on a leaf:

I don't know an exact size, but I would estimate ~0.5cm body length. Small enough that I actually thought they were aphids until I was able to see the haltiers on the pictures at home. ID help appreciated. Thanks!

That looks pretty good
I was thinking that after browsing through the diptera section of the guide, but I can't find anything that looks like a great match. I should go back and see if I have other pictures that might show wing veins or antennae in a little more detail.
