Winged Aphids - Periphyllus

Winged Aphids - Periphyllus
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
May 12, 2012
Size: 1/2 centimeter app.
These were all over my Japanese Maple. Is it possible to ID them to species? Am I looking at 2 stages of the same insect or 2 different insects.

Uh sorry for the 5 moves, not sure why that happened.

These are the same species, the two without wings are alatoid nymphs, meaning they will molt and become adults with wings.

Likely the same species
since aphids usually live in groups.
Maybe ants think of them as "herds." :-)
