Poplar bark sturgeon - Pyractomena borealis

Size: Approx 16 mm.
Poplar, Spruce, Larch marsh land. Area surrounded by water. The dead Poplar tree lost a large chunk of bark years ago.
These bugs hung there motionless while I used a twig to move one into view.
Temp. F. daytime 70's night 40's. for the last few days.

i just loved it that you
called it a sturgeon! i chuckled and youre right it does look like one.

 
I needed a name
and that was the first thing to mind.

Lampyridae larvae

 
That's it, Pyractomena borealis
Puting the two together seems to fit. The "what's here guide" missed another one.

Now I've searched the "Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre Taxa List for Invertebrates" for every genus in the tribes and don't find any Fire flies.
I have posted a poor image from last year that might be related.
