sleeping Orb-weaver Spider - Eustala
East Foss Farm, Durham, New Hampshire, USA
May 12, 2012
Size: 6-7 mm?
I was out testing my new macro lens (I still need some more practice with steadying my hands). This spider was resting during the day when I found it at the base of a dead twig that was coming out of the trunk of a sapling (chokeberry?)
If it wasn't for the odd contour of the spider's body projecting from the bark I swear I wouldn't have seen it there.

Moved from ID Request. Nice find.
