Sawfly - Pristiphora chlorea - female

Sawfly - Pristiphora chlorea - Female
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
May 14, 2012
Size: 7mm
Attracted to lights.

Moved from Common Sawflies.
Thanks Dave. Once in a while a dragonfly and even butterflies are at the lights, so it may just be they happened to be resting close by the light source.

Tenthredinidae, Nematinae
Pristiphora chlorea (Norton), female. Specimen examined. Larvae feed on oak. Sawflies aren't usually attracted to lights, though I occasionally see a few labeled so. Probably they just happen to be in the vicinity
