Spiky Nymph With Rotted-Looking Mass

Spiky Nymph With Rotted-Looking Mass
South Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA
May 15, 2012
The rotted-looking material didn't rest on its back, but was attached towards the back and hovered over the body like a parasol. I'm guessing that this serves the same "yuck-factor" purpose as the fecal glop on the backs of Sumac Flea Beetle larvae.
