Help!
I have moved 3 times over the past 5 years and they have followed me each time! I know they dont cause any harm, at least nothing that I can see. As you can see from my name, I am not a fan of bugs so regardless of what they do or dont do, I need to get rid of these nasty little things. I read some other comments saying to just deep clean everything and that should work, or try crushing every one I see. If I do a deep clean of everything, how do I know they wont still be in my couch or mattress or some deep dark corner I cant see? I cant crush them because they crunch and I can feel it through my shoe and it gives me the heabie jeabies, slight gagging follows. I have resorted to squealing really loudly until my boyfriend kills it or I find a cat to eat it, but again, the crunching factor comes into play with the cats. Is my only option hiring a pest control person or is there some at home secret remedy that someone might be able to pass my way.

Larder beetle
Wow, what a nice portrait of the larder beetle, Dermestes lardarius. These are beetles in the family Dermestidae (skin and hide beetles) that infest all manner of dried animal products. Hope it wasn't in YOUR house:-)

Larder Beetle
LOL.. Not in my house but on it...
I thought it was a cute little thing. Now that I read a bit about the little bugger they are quite the little devils! I have only seen this one. This may have come from bags of wild bird seed that my parents keep stored in the garage? They had to dump a bag recently because of all of the meal moths that were in it. This Larder beetle was on the stone on the side of the house near a flower bed.
Thank you again for the info Eric.. Im gona try moving this Larder beetle to a more appropriate category
