A delicate little geometrid? - Idaea

A delicate little geometrid? - Idaea
Marathon, Brewster County, Texas, USA

only about 4mm in length

Moved from Sterrhinae.

John and Jane, I think it would be safe to move this one at least to Genus Idaea. I would never have thought of Maury's suggested species until I found IAWAZ-0520.1 on BOLD. It is rather solid rusty and has no reniform or orbicular spots.

did this have a reddish tint?
a little dark

Yes, we would say rusty
more than an actual red. We'll see what we can do with the images at our end. They always look different on our screen after we post them to BugGuide.

Idaea
possibly Idaea eremiata - Hodges #7115, but the 4 mm small. Difficult to be sure from this photo.

I will check out your others from BB later this weekend.

We thought we specifically remembered this one
as tiny - guessing a wingspan of only 12mm or so, but maybe Heidi or Matt will chime in with what they know.
