Magicicada septendecim
John and Jane,

All of these images are of Magicicada septendecim. This is an example of mud-turret building which is characteristic of that species. In addition, this is an example of a 2-year accelerated emergence from Brood XIV which is slated for 2008. Here in Massachusetts, the only Magicicada species we get is Magicicada septendecim.
