Euchlaena - Euchlaena obtusaria - female

Euchlaena - Euchlaena obtusaria - Female
Victoria, Victoria County, Texas, USA
May 23, 2012
Size: wingspan aprox 40 mm
I guess it belongs to the tribe Anagogini, but I'm not sure.

Initially, the moth was on the floor. After a while, it changed its position on the wall. This was not a good decision. It chose a place where a gecko hide and look out for moth. The chosen place was where a gecko usually hides and hunts moths. The gecko gets closer slowly. When it was near, the gecko gets the moth with a fast-moving catch.
The moth was lucky and escaped only with a missing fragment of one wing. The moth dropped on the floor, and after a while it was able to fly, and hide in a bush.

It was not the first time when I saw this gecko catching a moth. I do not intervene, I let the nature to decide.

Pictures taken during nighttime, using flash.
