Mason Wasps? - Parancistrocerus leionotus - male - female

Mason Wasps? - Parancistrocerus leionotus - Male Female
Appleton, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, USA
May 22, 2012
Mating wasps on a Japanese Knotweed leaf. The male did a strange thing - it kept banging its upper body on the female, as though doing spastic sit-ups, while remaining attached at the end of the abdomen. They eventually flew off together.
