Reduviidae? - Boisea trivittata

Reduviidae? - Boisea trivittata
Gila National Forest, Forst Road 150, ca. 21 miles north of the Lake Roberts Road, Black Canyon Creek Campground area, Grant County, New Mexico, USA
May 27, 2012
Size: ca. 8mm
I was guessing these are some sort of Reduvid. A large population, they appeared interested in biting humans(climbing all over tents) - probing skin if given the chance. Active during the warmth of the day. Large groups (10-30) could be found feeding on moths and other larger insects on the ground.

Boxelder Bug

Plant feeders, and non-biters. :)

Welcome to BugGuide!

Thanks Ken
Thanks Ken! Interesting and makes sense - we were directly below a box elder! Odd though, they did not appear to be strictly plant feeders. We observed numerous piles of individuals on the ground, feeding on the corpse of other insects.

Nymph
This specimen is a nymph of the Boxelder as well.
