Wolf Spider - Pardosa lapidicina - male

Wolf Spider - Pardosa lapidicina - Male
Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
August 27, 2004
This male measure 8mm. Very fast. Variegated pattern. Females are a uniformly lighter shade. There appears to be some variance within the species.

Identity?
Tom, can you give some more support for your choice of Pardosa here? Jeff Hollenbeck feels this is not Pardosa, though he isn't certain in which genus to place it. Can you help with the separation and identification of the genera?

Arctosa?
I agree with Jeff. It's likely not a Pardosa. Not sure where it belongs. Possible Arctosa?

I agree, Tom.
I was thinking Arctosa, too

others in lycosidae?
Does that mean and some of the others near it in Lycosidae are also Arctosa?

It looks
very similiar
