Hemileuca caterpillar? - Hemileuca nevadensis

Hemileuca caterpillar? - Hemileuca nevadensis
Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA
May 31, 2012

Moved- Hemileuca complex
Moved from ID Request.

The Hemileuca from MN are generally considered either H. nevadensis or part of the H. maia/ H. nevadensis species complex. The complex tends to get fairly confusing out in your part of the country, but I'd say it's safe to call this one H. nevadensis because it is well out of the range of the nominate H. maia populations of the East.
