Mayfly ID confirmation - Ephemera simulans

Mayfly ID confirmation - Ephemera simulans
Forestville State Park, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA
May 29, 2012
Size: 2 cm
My trout fisherman friend observed many of these large Mayflies flying around a few days ago. He thinks it may be a Brown drake (Ephemera simulans), but would like confirmation of that. Thanks.

I see that my ID request was removed. Does that mean the bug is indeed a Brown drake? Thanks.

Ephemera
Hi Troy-

Mayfly ID requests are routinely moved to Ephemeroptera. This is done to facilitate them being quickly noticed by someone who will be able to identify then to a lower level. In any event, this mayfly female subimago is certainly of genus Ephemera, and probably E. simulans (Brown Drake), as opposed to being E. varia (Yellow Drake).
