dont know what it is other then a spider. hope you can help. very strong web.

orb weaver
I found one of these just like this picture but she was very orange - do they come in a variety of colors?

Probably a species of Araneus, possibly the shamrock spider, Araneus trifolium or the Cross spider, Araneus diadematus.

 
Right genus....
This is one of the few spiders I know on sight: the marbled orb weaver, Araneus marmoreus.
