ID for a wingless insect?

ID for a wingless insect?
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 24, 2012
This insect was in the entrance drive at the Claremont Colleges’ Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. The only idea I had was that it might be a bristletail or a silverfish. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

looks very nice; i'll be waiting for expert input
Moved from ID Request.

Thanks!
Thanks! I guess I was more or less on the right track. I'll be curious to see what anyone can say....
