Soldier Fly - Odontomyia

Soldier Fly - Odontomyia
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 3, 2012
Size: 1cm
I've got images of 5 of these flies, which I had placed in the Syrphidae up till now. My name for them was "flat bee." The dates of occurrence are 29 and 31 May, and 2, 3, 11 June. The one I have pictured here was attracted to a deck light and was still on the sheet in the morning.
