Plecoptera? - Claassenia sabulosa

Plecoptera? - Claassenia sabulosa
near the central Yukon River, Alaska, USA
Size: 7,5cm incl antennae/cerci

Moved from Stoneflies.

I believe that this interesting specimen is the male of Claassenia sabulosa, although I don't see them listed in the collecting record for AK (yet). The females look more like typical adult perlids. Short-winged species are found in several families--Capniidae has a number of them, but they are also found in Perlidae, Perlodidae, Taeniopterygidae, and probably others.

Kerry Matz has a nice photo of the C. sabulosa nymph somewhere in the Stonefly Images. It would be nice to see them combined on a new species page.

Don't know how this escaped comment for so long! Please forgive us. I am moving to order page for now.
