The Monstrous Moth - Ceratomia amyntor

The Monstrous Moth - Ceratomia amyntor
Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, USA
June 9, 2012
Size: Palm-sized
My sisters found this whopper of a moth outside in our backyard, sitting near a basement window. I had never seen a moth of such gargantuan proportions, although I know still larger specimens are out there. Any idea about this one, guys? Please tell me it's not going to lay eggs and hatch up babies with a hunger for tomato plants...

Moved from ID Request.

Information can be found by clicking the tan colored tabs above your photo. Your tomato plant is safe because the larva feed on basswood, cherry, elm and birch. Cropped your nice photos to show mainly the moth.
Thanks
