Blastobasinae
This is a male individual of Coleophoridae, subfamily Blastobasinae. It is not possible for me to take the ID further than that on sight.

many thanks
I'll get back to the key and try to find where I went wrong. What further details would be needed for you to take the ID further?

Genus ID
Well, I can see by the apex of the abdomen that this moth is male, and the antenna appears to have a "notch" at the first flagellomere, which places it in either Asaphocrita, Blastobasis, or Holcocera. The form of the notch can diagnose genus (see here). A major problem in going beyond genus is that there are quite a few as-yet undescribed spp. in this group (the last species-level revision was done in 1910).

here's a photo
I don't have a proper stage so this is the best angle I can get of the notch.

Blastobasis
Thanks. Based on what can be seen of the form of the antennal notch, this most likely is a species of Blastobasis.
