Robber - Mallophora fautrix

Robber - Mallophora fautrix
The Woodlands, Montgomery County, Texas, USA
July 21, 2006
Pretty confident this is a robber fly, but can't decide if it's a bee-like Laphria or a bee killing Mallophora. Can someone help me out?

Mallophora
Have the very slim antenna tips. Laphria all have the blunted tapered tips. This is likley Mallophora fautrix and really fine shots.

Pale Legs
Thanks for the help with the ID. Mine definitely has slim antennae tips, so I appreciate knowing what that means. This one has such pale legs compared to the rest of the images in the guide. Is that significant?

Legs
I have no explanation for that though it almost looks like the black dense hairs have been rubbed off somehow. There are only three Mallophora down there and this is not orcina or the giant leschenaulti.

Moving to guide
Thanks for all your help Mr. Raney.
