says Doug Yanega:
"The head and antennae are classic deficiens. In fact, they are dead-on for every diagnostic feature of decipiens versus the other similar Oberea. A fairly rare species, incorrectly classified as a synonym of tripunctata for decades (by Chemsak, who never examined Casey's types, and synonymized Casey's names based on material misidentified by other workers, such as Knull), and thus it is almost never correctly IDed in collections except by people using my book. Also, the plant they are on is Viburnum opulus (or something very close), and not a maple at all. This is a viburnum-specialist taxon, and opulus is VERY maple-like.
"That would be a great pair of specimens to grab for some genetic work, given the need for resolution among these NE Oberea."
Moved from Oberea.

nice; something along deficiens/praelonga lines
Moved from Beetles.
