Skipper of some kind - Satyrium tetra

Skipper of some kind - Satyrium tetra
San Jacinto Mountains, Riverside County, California, USA

Moved from Butterflies.

Can you provide more info re: location?
County would definitely help. Here are a couple of remote possibilities towards IDing your butterfly:

Mountain Mahogany Hairstreak - Butterflies through Binoculars: The West, page 90 (mostly costal California)

... and the oft-chance you're on Catalina, Avalon Hairstreak at:

Is up past Idlewild (as far as I remember). Maby about an hour drive past that.

That would put it in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County, probably up in oak or pine forest. There are species of Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus) at that altitude, though.

Updated location info to reflect.

One of the Hairstreaks
- those little fake antennae at the tail end are typical.

Not a skipper
a Hairstreak

Corrected location on this and other images so it doesn't say "Southern County." The headings are a bit confusing: Region in this context refers to a Canadian provincial subdivision.
