Aporus niger - male

Aporus niger - Male
nr. Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio, USA
July 22, 2006
Size: 6 mm
This specimen was captured in a Malaise Trap (18-25 July 2003) and is a little beat up, but I haven't managed to capture a better specimen, so I apologize. This species is rather rare in Ohio and I haven't been to any states in which they are common. However, they are the most widespread species in this genus. If you enlarge the photo you should be able to vaguely see that there are only two submarginal cells.
