Robber Fly - Efferia albibarbis - female

Robber Fly - Efferia albibarbis - Female
Essex, Ontario, Canada
July 22, 2006
Size: About 20 mm
Not sure if this is albibarbis or aestuans or reclassified as albibarbefferia? Both species are in Essex County.

Efferia albibarbis
Definitely Efferia albibarbis. The north shore of Lake Erie is the only region where it occurs in eastern Canada.

Moved
Moved from Efferia albibarbis.

Moved from Robber Flies.

Interesting
Ovipositor looks a bit short for female aestuans and the markings are off for albibarbis. Do you have any local Efferia in the Pogonioefferia group in your area? Don't have my catalog with me at the moment.

Pogoniefferia
Nothing listed for Pogoniefferia, Efferia pogonias or nemoralis. But, I have only two sources for Essex County - Ojibway and Point Pelee.
